Welcome and boarding – Visit of SAINT-GILLES

Around 3 pm, transfer to MAM GOZ moored in Saint-Gilles-du-Gard. After you settle down, you can rest on board or have the opportunity to discover Saint-Gilles. The city owes its fame to the pilgrimage which developed from the 11th century to become the fourth place after Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela.

You will walk on the Romans’ footsteps in Languedoc beginning with an amazing moment: tasting roman wines in Le Mas des Tourelles. This winery reconstituted a winepress to show you how the Romans produced, processed and preserved their wine. Then, you will visit Le Pont du Gard, the most impressive roman aqueduct in the world which passes over Gardon River since more than 2000 years. After lunch, we continue our trip in the antic past with the visit of Nîmes and its monuments: La Maison Carrée, the only fully-preserved temple from Antiquity and the majestic roman arena still used for shows! Then, you will navigate the Canal du Rhône à Sète and enjoy the wild and preserved Camargue, one of Europe’s largest wetlands reserve.
