Welcome and boarding – Visit of SAINT-GILLES
Around 3 pm, transfer to MAM GOZ moored in Saint-Gilles-du-Gard. After you settle down, you can rest on board or have the opportunity to discover Saint-Gilles. The city owes its fame to the pilgrimage which developed from the 11th century to become the fourth place after Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela.
ON THE ROMANS FOOTSTEPS IN LANGUEDOC - Cruise to Gallician
You will walk on the Romans’ footsteps in Languedoc beginning with an amazing moment: tasting roman wines in Le Mas des Tourelles. This winery reconstituted a winepress to show you how the Romans produced, processed and preserved their wine. Then, you will visit Le Pont du Gard, the most impressive roman aqueduct in the world which passes over Gardon River since more than 2000 years. After lunch, we continue our trip in the antic past with the visit of Nîmes and its monuments: La Maison Carrée, the only fully-preserved temple from Antiquity and the majestic roman arena still used for shows! Then, you will navigate the Canal du Rhône à Sète and enjoy the wild and preserved Camargue, one of Europe’s largest wetlands reserve.
Daytrip in CAMARGUE - Cruise towards AIGUES-MORTES
Welcome in the heart of Camargue’s Regional Natural Park! You will discover, with a private Nature Guide, the wildlife at the “Parc Ornithologique de Gau“. Ponds, swamps, channels, reed beds, all form this vast 60 hectare area, entirely devoted to the discovery of nature where you can observe birds’ life. For lunch, we will drive you to Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a place of authentic tradition and gypsies’ pilgrimage. According to the season, you may enjoy swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. In the afternoon, back on board, comfortably installed on the upper deck, you will discover a part of the Camargue with its white horses and bulls living among the reeds and ponds. Arrival in Aigues-Mortes a well preserved citadel placed in the middle of salt marshes.
SALINS DU MIDI by 4x4 - Cruise to PALAVAS
Be enchanted for more than 3 hours, by the magic of the “Salins d’Aigues-Mortes”. In a 4×4, accompanied by a Naturalist Guide, you will discover fauna and flora that you will not see anywhere else. After lunch, you will visit Aigues-Mortes founded by King Saint-Louis to have a harbor on the Mediterranean Sea. Then, Mam Goz invites you to cruise to Palavas. Dinner in Le Phare de la Méditerranée, a panoramic restaurant in a former water tower completely rehabilitated and transformed into an amazing touristic infrastructure. During dinner, the restaurant turns 360° in one hour and a quarter to share you a beautiful view on the coast and landscape of Languedoc.
Cruise between ponds and sea - Visit of PEZENAS and SETE
In the morning, you can rest on board during a quiet cruise towards Sète or bike along the canal to visit the peninsula of Maguelone and its old cathedral. The town of Sète has been founded by Louis XIV in 1666. Sète is crossed by numerous canals and is considered by many as the Venice of the Languedoc. After lunch at a restaurant on Etang de Thau, you will visit Pézenas with your Tour Guide. Pézenas is a charming village filled with historic mansions, numerous imposing houses from the 16th to 18th centuries, winding lanes and one-of-a-kind shops. On our way back, we will stop at the top of the Mont Saint-Clair to have a wonderful panoramic view of the town and the surrounding region.
