You will discover the lovely Provencal villages with their winding streets and shadowed terraces. You will admire the majestic Roman ruins and architecture of the ancient cities. You will be captivated by the perfumes of Provence, these herbs being so important to the Mediterranean cuisine. You will cherish your experiences and admire the beauty and variety of the landscapes; the slopes of the Rhone which cultivate delicious wines, the Garrigue that smells of thyme and lavender, the mysterious wild Camargue, the Mediterranean Sea shimmering under the sun...
Peaceful barging in France, visits of exceptional sites for their history, architecture and beauty of the landscapes will mark everyday cruise. On Mam Goz, you will experience "l’art de vivre à la française" with a French crew at your disposal. We will have the pleasure to help you discover Mediterranean style gourmet cuisine and wines coming from ous wonderful "terroirs".
Welcome and boarding – AVIGNON
SATURDAY
Around 4 pm, you will board the MAM GOZ moored on the Rhône River in Avignon. After you settle in, you can rest on board or enjoy a walk along the banks or in the center of the beautiful town of Avignon, the famous ‘Popes City’. Then, it will be time for welcome champagne and drinks, meet the crew and learn more about your itinerary. We will have prepared a succulent meal, that our chef will serve after the special “mise en bouche”!
The morning begins with a guided visit to the famous Palais des Papes. Capital of the western Christian world in the fourteenth century. Avignon presents an exceptional set of monuments, beautiful squares, remarkable mansions, winding alleys and fashion boutiques. After lunch, you will have time for a spot of shopping in Avignon. We will then cruise the Rhône River, arriving at the small village of Vallabrègues.
You will enjoy discovering steep hills in the heart of Provence: the Alpilles. Visit ‘Les Baux-de-Provence’, a fortified medieval city with its winding streets, shady terraces and imposing fortress. Then, you will meet the true star of the Alpilles: the delicious olive oil produced by the Moulin de Castelas. After lunch, on a typical small village square, you will discover Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Packed with fashionable boutiques and art galleries. During your cruise to Arles, you will pass an impressive lock with a height difference of 14 m.
ARLES, an ancient roman city - cruise to GALLICIAN
TUESDAY
How can the magic of Arles be explained? Does it come from the light that once so dazzled Van Gogh? The impressive architectural vestiges since Roman epoc that are the legacy of successive generations? You will find the answers thanks to the insights of your guide during the visit to this marvellous city of Provence. Then, you will navigate the Petit Rhône, one of the arms of the delta du Rhône which encloses the Camargue, a peaceful navigation down the current to reach the Canal du Rhône à Sète. Comfortably relaxing on the upper deck, you will discover a part of the Camargue with its white horses and bulls living among the reeds and ponds. Arrival in Gallician at the end of the day. Nature stopover in the heart of the reed bed.
At the heart of Camargue, you are cordially invited to share in the intimacy of the wildlife: you will visit the ornithological park wich is the ideal site to discover, observe and photograph a plethora of bird species, which include hundreds of pink flamingos in their natural habitat. Ponds, swamps, channels, reed beds, saltmarshes all form this vast 60 hectare area, entirely devoted to the discovery of nature and birds of the Camargue. You will share a unique moment with a specialist nature guide. Then, you will go to the capital of the Camargue. Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is famous for its gypsy’s pilgrimage. Depending on the season, you may enjoy swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Return on board to rest or enjoy the beautiful nature of this stopover for a bike ride.
In the morning, you will navigate the Canal du Rhône à Sète and enjoy the wild and preserved Camargue, one of Europe’s largest wetlands reserve. Followed by a stop in Aigues-Mortes, founded by King Saint-Louis to have a harbour on the Mediterranean Sea. After lunch, you will be enchanted by the magic of the “Salins d’Aigues-Mortes”. You will discover inaccessible places, fauna and flora that you will not see anywhere else. Visit of Aigues-Mortes: this beautiful touristic city remains surrounded by medieval ramparts.
After breakfast transfer to the airport or railway stations in Montpellier.

BOOKING
Booking is very simple. You may contact Christel or Eric by mail: fluvialtour@outlook.fr or by phone in France: +33 659 587 589. To confirm your booking, you provide a deposit of 30% by bank transfer. This will be taken as an acceptance of terms and sales conditions. The balance is due 90 days before the start date of your cruise. Non paiement will be taken as cancellation. You can also book via your local travel agency. They can get in contact with us.
REMARKS The route might be reversed without altering the quality of the cruise or implying any disturbance for our clients. If during the cruise a technical problem such as lock blocking, canal works, flooding or mechanical or technical problems with the barge, etc. would occur, we reserve the right to change the cruise route and propose alternatives without altering the quality and with mind the fully satisfaction of our clients.
Guests should be of reasonable fitness and agility suitable for a barging holiday.
